How a consultation works from the app
The Itaca mobile app supports the work that already takes place around a consultation. It does not create a separate medical record or automatically convert a recording into a final note: it gathers context, captures the conversation, and prepares documentation for you to review.

Open the patient's file to check medical history, previous notes, and available documents. You can also attach files or audio from your device selector before starting.
2. Capture the conversation
Start, pause and resume recording from the phone. If you switch apps or lock the screen, recording may continue within the device's capabilities and permissions. If you do not have internet, you can record and continue audio upload flow when connection is restored.
3. Revise the draft
Itaca organizes the information available to prepare a draft clinical note. You can read, correct, and approve it before adding it to the file or using it in patient care.
4. Continue wherever it suits you
The same account connects patients, consultations, notes, and documents on mobile and web. You can start right next to the patient and continue from a computer when you need a larger screen or to make a video call.

Is the note finalized automatically?
Itaca prepares a draft organized on the basis of the available information. The professional must review, correct, and approve it before adding it to the file or using it in care.
Can I record a consultation without an internet connection?
Yes. You can record from the phone even if you don't have a connection and upload the audio to Itaca when you have internet again. Processing and draft preparation require the file to reach Itaca.
What happens if I switch apps or lock the screen?
A recording initiated by you can remain active while you switch apps or lock the screen, within the device's capabilities and permissions. On Android, the system may display a notification while the recording continues in the background.
Can I attach audio or documents from the phone?
Yes. You can select files or recordings saved on the device and add them to the corresponding workflow in Itaca. This is useful when you receive studies, document photographs, or audio outside the application.
How does Itaca handle clinical information in the application?
